The stunning SLR was dreamt up between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren while both were partnered in F1 during the 2000s. Mclaren constructed the complex carbon fiber body panels and Mercedes engineers lent the car it's 618hp, 575 lb-ft Supercharged V8 engine, gearbox and drivetrain. The result is 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 205 mph. The SLR is equipped with an automatic transmission. It has 3 drive modes - comfort, sport and manual, the last of which requires the use of steering wheel buttons to control shifts.

Other unique features that were uncommon at the time which the SLR introduced are the rocker actuated sway bars similar to those used in F1. The ceramic by-wire braking system and active air brakes to help pull the car down from high speeds. Oversized carbon fiber crash structures, similar to those used in racing cars, can absorb immense impacts.
